About Sonoma Valley

Though many automatically equate Napa with the term “Wine Country,” neighboring Sonoma Valley has for years now been on the radar of serious wine enthusiasts. More than 75 wineries call Sonoma Valley home, and because some vineyards date to the early 1800s, this area is also the recognized birthplace of the California wine industry.

Nicknamed The Valley of the Moon by author Jack London (who lived, wrote and is buried here at Jack London State Historic Park), Sonoma Valley comprises three towns: Glen Ellen, Kenwood, and Sonoma.

Tucked between the Mayacamas and Sonoma mountain ranges, Sonoma Valley is blessed with fertile soil in which seemingly everything will grow. The bustling local farmers markets, prowled by chefs of top restaurants, show why so many food trends start right here – you can thank Sonoma Valley for the fresh chevre on your blood orange and arugula salad.
The landscape features century old oaks and shaded trails, perfectly suited for cycling tours and horseback rides, once you’ve had your fill of Zinfandel.
